Training Programme on Millets Held by KVK Kishtwar

In continuation with the Government of India’s celebrations of the year 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets’ , one day training programme was organized for Farmers and Farm women on the importance of Millets by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar at village Mulutan Block Drabshalla of the District under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme aimed to emphasize the importance of millets in human nutrition and motivate the farmers to undertake their cultivation. During the programme, webcast for inauguration of International Millets Conference by the Prime Minister was also shown to the participants. While speaking on the occasion, Dr Narinder Paul, Incharge KVk Kishtwar highlighted the importance of millets and their immense value in ensuring nutritional security, climate resilience and called upon the participants to promote their cultivation, value addition and consumption. Dimple Kumar, Block Secretary Drabshalla, pinned hopes that the programme would enlighten the participants about the importance of millets and motivate them to undertake their cultivation. Mohd Saleem JAEO and Vishal Kumar AEA also spoke on the occasion. Others present in the programme were Alaf Deen, Anatatulla, Fareed Ahmad, Mohd Hussain, Noor Hussain, Mirza begum, Gulzara Begum, Shamima Begum. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mohd Amin, Member Panchayat Dugga.


Farmer Scientist Interaction held by KVK Kishtwar

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today organized farmer scientist interaction at Panchayat Ghar village Mulchitter of the District in which the farmers from the panchayat Mulchitter Tehsil Mugal Maidan participated. The programme was conducted by Dr Narinder Paul, Head KVK Kishtwar under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme was aimed to gain first hand experience of the farmers problems and cultivation practices being followed besides providing guidance to the technical issues related to the agriculture being encountered by the farmers so as to provide viable and sustainable solutions. The participants were encouraged to freely share their constraints in scientific agriculture practices. During the interaction, the farmers were educated about the latest techniques of crops production with major emphasis on scientific vegetable cultivation. Farmers’ queries regarding diseases in vegetables, soil sampling, soil health card and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi were deliberated upon. Besides, various issues of crop production and management were also discussed during technical session.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today organized farmer scientist interaction at Village Shanderi Panchayat Dugga of the District in which the farmers and farm women from the village. The programme was conducted by Dr Narinder Paul, Head KVK Kishtwar under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme intended to get first hand experience of the farmers problems and cultivation practices being followed, identify gaps in adoption of recommended practices and discuss technical issues related to the agriculture being faced by the farmers. The participants were encouraged to freely share their technical issues associated with scientific agriculture practices. During the interaction, the farmers were educated about the latest techniques of crops production with major emphasis on scientific vegetable cultivation. Farmers’ queries regarding diseases in vegetables, soil sampling, soil health card and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi were deliberated upon. Besides, various issues of crop production and management were also discussed during technical session. Tirth Ram, Swami Raj, Roshan Lal, Shadi Lal, Chunni Devi, Krishni Devi, Om Devi and other farmers of the village attended the programme. KVK Kishtwar conducted Field Day on Paddy

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today conducted field day under Front Line Demonstrations on scientific cultivation and management of paddy crop at villages Pranzil and Sigdi of Tehsil Mugal Maidan of the district. The programmes were conducted in the farmers’ fields under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar conducted the programmes which were attended by 80 farmers, farm women and rural youth. During the programme the technologies on scientific paddy cultivation demonstrated by KVK during Kharif 2023 were discussed and their potential recorded from the participant farmers. The farmers expressed great satisfaction over the production potential of the paddy production, protection and management technologies. Mohd. Ayub, a demonstrator farmer from Village Sigdi while speaking on the occasion expressed that the farmers have obtained increased production in paddy this year due to adoption of technologies promoted under the demonstrations. Vidhya Lal, Suresh Kumar, Ashwani Kumar, Nath Ram, Mohd Iqbal Khandey, Sharda Devi, Bimla Devi, Lal Chand, Suresh Kumar, Atta Mohd and others participated in the programme.


KVK Kishtwar lays FLDs on Scientific Paddy Cultivation

For promoting scientific paddy cultivation in District Kishtwar, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu today initiated laying out Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) on paddy crop in an area of 200 Kanal in villages Pranzil, Supnai, Sigdi and Galhar of the District. Trainings for 100 farmers were conducted in the villages under FLDs on raising paddy nursery and management on scientific lines during the week long programme. The participants were also trained about scientific cultivation and agronomic practices of paddy crop. Seed of High Yielding Variety of Paddy was distributed among 100 farmers covered under the programme in the presence of Subash Chander Member J&K Advisory Board for Kissans. Dr Narinder Paul incharge scientist KVK Kishtwar organized the programme under the supervision of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Amjad Malik CAO, Kishtwar, Arif Khurshid Sirwal, AEO Kandani and Nisha Sharma, AEO Padyarna collaborated with KVK for laying out the demonstrations. Om Prakash, Ved Prakash, Sat Lal, Mohd. Akram, Hazra Begum, Mohd. Iqbal, Falima Begum, Bhopa Ram, Girdhari Lal, Ram Krishan and other farmers of the villages participated in the programme.


KVK Kishtwar conducts Training Programme for Farm Women under FLDs

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today conducted one day training programme under Front Line Demonstrations on scientific cultivation and management of vegetables in nutri-gardens at Village Galhar Bhatta Block Nagseni of the district. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar, Subash Chander, Member J&K Advisory Board for Kissans, Anil Kumar President Parivartan NGO and 25 Farm Women of the village covered under FLDs on nutri-gardens attended the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar stressed upon the participants to adopt the practice of scientific raising and management of nutri-gardens not only for meeting out the household requirement of nutritional vegetables but also for sale locally. He asked for adopting the sustainable and organic practices in the nutri-gardens. Participants queries regarding insect pest attack, suitable agronomic practices and marketing were also discussed. Organic inputs and bio-fertilizers were also distributed among the participants. Programme ended with the vote of thanks by Subash Chander Member Advisory Board for Kissan, J&K


Capacity Building Programme for Agriculture Officers Held by KVK Kishtwar

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu organized training programme on use of glyphosate in agriculture for the extension personnel of Department of Agriculture and Farmers welfare Kishtwar at Kishtwar involved in the pest control advisory services in the district under the guidance of Dr S.K. Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. 30 officers and extension personnel of the department from the district attended the training programme. Dr Narinder Paul, Head KVK Kishtwar organized the programme. Amjad Hussain Malik Chief Agriculture Officer Kishtwar, Sanjay Sharma, DAO(Extension), Jamshed Hussain, Rakesh Padha, Ajay Sharma, SMSs SDL, Manzoor Ahmad Zargar SDAO Marwah, and Agriculture extension officers of different zones of the District Participated in the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul deliberated upon the misuse of glyphosate by the farming community due to lack of awareness and trainings regarding the herbicide. However, not recommended for use in any crop in the district, farmers have been found using it which is very hazardous. He called upon the extension functionaries to conduct training programme and farmer awareness programmes for proper farmers education regarding the herbicide. Amjad Hussain Malik CAO Kishtwar called upon the participants to educate the farmers about practices of safe use of pesticides. The participants were trained about safe use of pesticide so that they can train the farmers of the district. At the end of the programme an interactive session was held in which the queries of the participants were discussed. Programme ended with vote of thanks by Sanjay Sharma DAO(Extension) Kishtwar.


“Holistic Agriculture Development Programme” in Kishtwar, training regarding “Development of Fodder Resources

Under the ongoing District Level Training for “Holistic Agriculture Development Programme” in Kishtwar, training regarding “Development of Fodder Resources” was today organized at conference hall, DC Office Complex, Kishtwar. The training programme was organized by Amjad Hussain Malik, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kishtwar and attended by Sh. Sanjay Sen, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Narinder Paul, I/c KVK, District Level Officers, Sub-Division Level Officers, besides other field Officers and technical personnel of Agriculture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry of the district. More than 100 participants were imparted training in 4 technical sessions by resource persons Dr. Narinder Paul, Dr. Arif Shah, Dr. Amjad Hussain Malik and Dr. Umar Bhat. During the programme it was briefed that J&K UT is deficit in around 41% of fodder which is met through imports. For attaining self-sufficiency and sustainability under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme, an outlay of Rs 129 Crore for J&K UT has been earmarked for five years project period. Expected outcome of the programme with verifiable parameters project includes reduction of deficit upto 80% at the end of five years period with enhanced quality and quantity of fodder production. An interactive session was held after the technical part for clearing the queries raised by the participants.


KVK Kishtwar starts 15 Days INM Training for Input Dealers

Krishi Kendra Kishtwar, SKUAST Jammu today started 15 days certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management for agriculture input dealers today at Kishtwar. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu and was organized by Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar under the supervision of Dr Amrish Vaid Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Amjad Hussain Malik, CAO Kishtwar Sanjay Sharma DAO Extension, Jamshed Hussain, Khalid Hussain Zargar SMS DL, Manzoor Ahmad Zargar SDAO Marwah,, Jatinder Singh SMS SDL Paddar were present during the inaugural function of the programme. 17 trainees from differnet areas of District Kishtwar enrolled for the certificate course joined the training programme. The Programme started with welcome address by Dr Narinder Paul who also briefed the participants about the content and outline of 15 days programme and importance of the course for the aspiring fertilizer dealers. During the technical session, Dr Narinder Paul briefed the participants about essential plant nutrients, their role and deficiency symptoms and proper nutrient management to increase production and productivity of crops. Amjad Hussain Malik threw light on the handling, stocking and transportation of fertilizers. Jamshed Hussain SMS DL deliberated upon the current scenario of fertilizer use in district Kishtwar. He laid emphasis on use of balanced nutrient management by using recommended doses of fertilizers for different crops. Auqib Hussain, Altaf Hussain, Arvind Sharma, Atiya Iqbal, Honey Bloria, Nahida Banoo and other participants attended the programme.


Soil Testing Laboratory Hosts INM Trainees, briefed about Soil Testing

During the ongoing 15 days certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management for agriculture input dealers being conducted by Krishi Kendra Kishtwar, SKUAST Jammu, at Kishtwar, trainees today paid an exposure visit to the soil testing Laboratory Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Kishtwar. The objective of the visit was to give them first-hand knowledge and experience of soil testing, parameters of soil testing and soil health cards for making test based nutrient and fertilizers recommendations. Vikram Bhandari, Incharge Soil testing Laboratory Kishtwar briefed the trainees about the different laboratory equipment’s and machines used for nutrient analysis of soil samples collected from the farmers’ fields. He also made point-to-point discussion with the trainees about different parameters of soil health and soil testing. Earlier, he gave a method demonstration at the Berwar farm before the trainees on collection of a representative soil sample for nutrient analysis of soil. He briefed about precautions to be taken while collection of soil sample for analysis of nutrients and health status of soil. Sulakshna Sharma briefed the trainees about analysis of major nutrients of soil whereas, Nazia Tabassum sensitized the trainees about Micro nutrient analysis. Participants cleared their doubts on soil testing during the technical discussion held at the end of the visit. Pertinent that 15 days INM Certificate souse is being attended by 17 youth from District Kishtwar who are aspiring Agriculture input dealers.


Training for Extension Officers Held by KVK Kishtwar

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu organized one day training programme on Integrated Nutrient Management of field crops for the extension personnel of Department of Agriculture and Farmers welfare Kishtwar under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. 35 officers and extension personnel of the department from the district attended the training programme. Dr Narinder Paul, Head KVK Kishtwar organized the programme. Amjad Hussain Malik Chief Agriculture Officer Kishtwar, Sanjay Sharma, DAO(Extension), Khalid Zargar, Jamshed Hussain SMS DL, Manzoor Ahmad Zargar SDAO Marwah, Jatinder Singh SMS SDL and Agriculture extension officers of different zones of the District also participated in the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul deliberated upon the depleting soil fertility status of the district due to imbalance use of fertilizers and stressed upon use of Integrated Nutrient Management practices for improving soil and plant health. He urged for creation of awareness and trainings among the farmers on Integrated Nutrient management of field crops. Important plant nutrients and their role in the nutrition of crops, timely identification of nutrients deficiency in crops and their proper management were also discussed. Amjad Hussain Malik CAO Kishtwar called upon the participants to educate the farmers about Integrated Nutrient Management Practices and to ensure use of all essential plant nutrients by the farmers for increasing production and productivity besides maintaining the soil health. KVK organized Training programme at Paddar

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today conducted one day training and farmer interaction programme at Kijayee, Paddar on nutricereals and nutri vegetables. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar, Honish Jamwal, SMS SDL, Jatinder Singh SMS SDL, Pooja Devi sarpanch Afani, Lekh Raj Sarpanch Jaar, Ampy Singh, Manoj Kumar, Raj Kumar, Barinder Singh, Sunil Sharma AEOs and 25 farmers and farm women participated in the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar apprised the participants about the mandates of KVK and sought cooperation of the farmers in on farm testing, front line demonstrations and other extension activities of newly established KVK in the District. The participants were imparted training on scientific nursery raising and cultivation of vegetables. Jatinder Singh SMS Department of Agriculture Paddar stressed upon cultivation of vegetables on scientific lines. Ampy Singh, AEO briefed the participants about KCC, PM Kissan Samman Nidhi, Soil Health Card and other schemes of the Department for the welfare of the farmers. Honish Jamwal, Manoj Kumar, Raj Kumar, Barinder Singh and Sunil Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Vegetable seed kits were distributed among the participants through Pooja Devi Sarpanch Afanni and Lekh Raj Sarpanch Jaar who lauded the efforts of KVK in organizing the programme in remote area of the District.

Dr Narinder Paul I/c KVK Kishtwar organised the event under the supervision of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Farmers, farmwomen and members of the panchayat participated in the programme. The programme was intended to provide a platform for making the participants aware of the area specific scientific production technologies to assist them to increase their output. During the programme, the participants were apprised of the natural farming, Good Agriculture Practices and proven agriculture technologies suited to the area. The participants were also made aware about various centrally sponsored schemes and flagship programme of the government for their welfare. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today conducted one day training programme on nutri-cereals and exotic vegetables at Village Galhar Block Nagseni of the district in collaboration with the Agriculture production and Farmers Welfare Department Zone Padyarana, Kishtwar. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar, Subash Chander, Member J&K Advisory Board for Kissans, Ampy Singh, AEO, Nisha Sharma AEO, Manoj Kumar AEO, Sandeep Anand and Amit Gupta AEAs, 50 farmers and farmwomen of the village attended the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar elaborated the importance of nutri-cereals/ millets in the human nutrition and called for its cultivation as the area has immense potential in it and this year is being celebrated as International year of millets. He also imparted training to the participants on scientific cultivation of okra and broccoli. Nisha Sharma, Agriculture Extension Officer, Padyarna stressed upon cultivation of vegetables for meeting out the household requirement of the family nutrition and pinned hopes that farm women of the village can play a pivotal role in it. Ampy Singh, AEO deliberated upon insect pest and disease management of major vegetable crops grown in the village and asked the participants to seek advice of technical officers and field functionaries of the Department before using any agrochemicals on the crops. Manoj Kumar, Sandeep Anand and Amit Gupta from Agriculture and farmers Welfare Department also spoke on the occasion. Farmers queries regarding disease incidence in chilly, brinjal, tomato and maize were also deliberated upon and solutions provided. Vegetable seed kits were also distributed among the participants. Method Demonstrations on Management of Paddy Disease Held by KVK Kishtwar

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu conducted method demonstrations for the farmers of Pranzil, Sigdi and Nagseni areas for scientific management of paddy diseases affecting the crop in district Kishtwar. The demonstrations were organized by Dr Narinder Paul, Head KVK Kishtwar in collaboration with Amjad Hussain Malik Chief Agriculture Officer Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers welfare Kishtwar under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The demonstrations were aimed at developing “how to do” skills among farmers to manage the paddy diseases. They were educated about different diseases creating significant losses to paddy crop in the District. The farmers were also trained about calculation of doses of agro-chemicals for their respective fields coupled with preparation of homogenous solution and method of its application on the crop during demonstrations. Knapsack sprayers and agrichemicals were also provided to the farmers for management of diseases attacking the paddy crop. Bidhya Lal, Kuldeep Kumar, Lal Chand, Baldev Raj, Om Prakash, Meena Devi, Munni Devi and many other farmers from Pranzil, Sigdi and Galhar participated in the programmes.


Training for PMFME credit linked beneficiaries started by KVK Kishtwar

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar, SKUAST Jammu today started 3 days training programme for Credit linked beneficiaries under Prime Minister Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme at Kishtwar today. Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar organized the programme under the guidance of Dr Amrish Vaid Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The training programme started with welcome address by Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar. He briefed the participants about entrepreneurship development, goal setting, and managerial skills for microenterprises and stressed upon motivation of potential beneficiaries for getting benefits under PMFME for setting up of small-scale microenterprise especially for processing of walnut. He called upon the participants to develop and inculcate the basic attributes of entrepreneurship among them. Mohd. Yaqoob District Resource Person for Kishtwar briefed the participants about Indian food industry and opportunities in the food sector especially walnut, the ODOP of Kishtwar. He also gave detailed overview of PFMFE scheme. Rakesh Padha SMS DDL Marwah briefed about microenterprises business plans and proper collaboration with the agencies for smooth setting and running of enterprise. Guddu kumar, Mohd. Amin Malik, Iysain Banoo, Sajjad Hussain and other participants attended the training programme.


KVK Kishtwar organizes Farmers’ Meet

Reiterating to formulate the need based extension activities, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar today held a progressive farmers meet at Dadpeth under the guidance of Dr JP Sharma Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu. The meet was organized by Dr Narinder Paul incharge KVK Kishtwar under the supervision of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. Altaf Hussain Lone Sarpanch, Mehrajudin Khan Niab Sarpanch, Nisar Ahmad Matoo PRI member, Arif Khurshid Sirwal AEO Dadpeth and farmers of the panchayat atteneded the meet. During the meet an appraisal of the existing crop and other agri-enterpsies undertaken by the farmers of the area was made with major emphasis on the production and productivity related issues. Dr Narinder Paul called for bridging the existing gaps in the adoption of recommended cultivation practices through sustained farmer educational and extension activities. He also urged upon the participant farmers and PRIs to motivate and mobilize the farmers to actively participate in the trainings and other extension activities of the newly established KVK in district Kishtwar. Arif Khurshid Sirwal AEO Dadpeth highlighted the major flagship programmes of the agriculture and obtained farmers feedback regarding various crops, and other agriculture enterprises for planning the training programmes. Participants discussed various production and productivity related issues and existing farmers problems regarding low productivity, dry land , nutrient management of crops, diseases and pest of major crops etc in the meeting.

Series of farmer training programmes on scientific cultivation of Amranthus crop were held in district Kishtwar during the week by the Division of Agronomy and KVK Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu under Department of Science and Technology (DST) sponsored Project “Exploration of underutilized Amaranthus species for sustainable livelihood, nutritional security and climate resilience of Western Himalayas” at Pranzil, Sigdi Dadpeth, Talaran and Palmar villages of the district. The training programmes were held under the Guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu and Dr BC Sharma, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-J Chatha and Principal Investigator of the project. Dr Narinder Paul, Head KVK Kishtwar and Co-PI of the project organized the training programme in association with Dr Vishal Gupta Associate Professor, Division of Plant Pathology, SKUAT-J, Co-PI and Dr Anil Kumar, Research Fellow. During the programmes 90 farmers were imparted trainings on Good Agricultural Practices in higher hill for Amaranthus cultivation, potential of underutilized grains of Amaranthus grown in different areas of the district, weed management and cultivation practices of improved varieties of Amaranthus crop for promoting its cultivation on scientific lines. Farmers were also mobilized to undertake Amaranthus cultivation as it is highly climate resilient crop to coup with the kharif drought which is most prevalent in many areas of the district. Lal Chand, Kuldeep Sharma, Dunni Chand, Ashwani Kumar, Meena Devi, Farooq Ahmad, Jamala Begum, Kush Mohammad, Rahida Begum, Madan lal, Anoop Raina and 80 other farmers attended the training programmes.


KVK Kishtwar Organizes Farmers’ Training programme on vegetable cultivation

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today conducted one day training programme on vegetable cultivation-A remunerative enterprise at Village Badhat of block Drabshalla of the district in collaboration with the Agriculture production and Farmers Welfare Department Kishtwar. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme was attended by 30 farmers, farmwomen and youth of the village. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul Incharge KVK Kishtwar educated the participants about the potential of vegetable cultivation for small and marginal farmers for increasing their farm income and providing the sustainability to the production system. The participants were trained about the scientific methods of vegetable cultivation. Vishal Kumar AEA Dugga called the participants for adoption of vegetable cultivation as income generating enterprise. Mohd Salim JAEO Badhat called for scientific cultivation of vegetables for high returns. Nayeem Ahmad, Tanver Ahmad, Asgar Ali, Chanchla Devi, Puspha Devi, Kamlesha Devi, Manohar Lal attended the programme. At the end of the programme vegetable seed kits were distributed among the participants for staring the vegetable cultivation. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Dimple Kumar Secretary Panchyat Block Drabshalla.


KVK Kishtwar Celebrates International Women Day

Acknowledging the contribution of women in the agriculture sector, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kishtwar SKUAST Jammu today celebrated International Women Day at Village Shanderi Block and Tehsil Drabshalla of the District. On the occasion, a training cum seed distribution programme was organised for 30 women of the village. The programme was organized by Dr Narinder Paul I/C KVK Kishtwar under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme was intended to commemorate this year's theme, DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” and educate the farm women about the role of innovative agriculture technologies in meeting the health and developmental needs of women besides promoting gender equality. The participants were educated about balanced nutrition through growing nutritious vegetables at home or backyard with major focus on the seasonal high nutrition rich vegetables. Moreover, the role of ICT in meeting the educational needs of the women was also highlighted. Vegetable seed kits were distributed among the participating women for starting the nutri-gardens and strengthening the household nutritional security through production of quality vegetables at home or backyards. Santosha Devi, Krishna Devi, Neelma Devi, Rekha devi, Champa Devi, Kamla Devi Tara Devi and other women participated. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Dimple Kumar Secretary panchayat Drabshalla.


KVK Kishtwar celebrates world soil day

KVK Kishtwar today celebrated world soil day at Panchayat Mulchitter Block Mugal Maidan under the guidance of Dr JP Sharma Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu. The programme was conducted by Dr Narinder Paul I/c KVK Kishtwar under the supervision of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. On the occasion, a farmers’ training programme and a kissan gosthi on soil health management were held. Arif Khurshid Sirwal, AEO Zone Dadpeth, Navreen Tabassum, Secratary Panchayat Mulchitter, Sushma Devi sarpanch Mulchitter, Shadi Lal and Sunita Devi member Panchayat and more than progressive Farmers and farm women of the Panchayat participated in the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul made the participants aware about the importance of maintaining healthy soil ecosystem for the human well being, the ways and means of soil health management and called for community participation in the soil health management practices. Arif Khurshid Sirwal stressed upon the farmers to incorporate the soil health card recommendation based fertilizers in the crop to maintain proper soil health. Others present during the programme were Ghulam Rasool and Mohd. Amin Shah from Jalshakti Deptt, Sharda Devi from Health Department, Som Nath from Forest department, Farooq Amhad Butt from Education department, Romesh Kumar, Farooq Ahmad, Sheela Devi Tanveer Ahmad, Lok Sharma. At the end of the programme minor agriculture implements were distributed among the participants.


KVK Kishtwar celebrates World Soil Day at Balgran

KVK Kishtwar today celebrated world soil day at Panchayat Balgran Block Drabshalla under the guidance of Dr SK Gupta Director Extension SKUAST Jammu. The programme was conducted by Dr Narinder Paul Head KVK Kishtwar in collaboration with Ampy Sigh, Agriculture Extension Officer Zone Binoon Subdivision Paddar. The theme of programme was Soil and water: A Source of life. On the occasion, a farmers’ training programme on balanced nutrients use and a kissan gosthi on soil health management were held. Ampy Singh, AEO Zone Binoon, Ajay Chander JAEO, Jwalapur, Ghulam Mohammad Sarpanch Balgran, Karim Baksh Member Panchayat Balgran and more than 50 progressive Farmers and farm women of the Panchayat participated in the programme. During the programme Dr Narinder Paul made the participants aware about the importance of balanced nutrition in crops for maintaining healthy soils ecosystem, the ways and means of soil health management and called for balanced plant nutrient use for soil health management practices. Ampy Singh stressed upon the farmers to incorporate the soil health card recommendation based fertilizers in the crop to maintain proper soil health. Ajay Chander called upon the participants for enriching the organic matter content of the soil for better soil health. Others present during the programme were Ghulam Mohammad, Noor Mohammad, Dewan Chand, Surjeet Kumar, Mohammad Latief, Babli Devi, Swami Raj, Mohammad Shaffi, Fateh Mohammad. At the end of the programme organic soil amendments and vegetable seed were distributed among the participants.
